Chambray and denim shirts

The making of a chambray shirt

Chambray is a must-have fabric with a strong personality. Its raw appearance and its natural indigo coulour mean that it is often confused with denim. Timeless, the chambray shirt is the must-have of casual chic looks. This feature makes it particularly suitable for mid-season or summer temperatures. The weaving of the chambray intertwines a white yarn (ecru) with an indigo yarn.

Its blue colour is obtained by washing the fabric (also called stone-washed). Several washes were necessary to obtain this particular colour. Our shirts are designed with an Italian chambray (smooth and plain) from Albini Spinning and our accessories are made with a Japanese textured chambray with reliefs from Sevenberry Spinning.

Chambray differs from denim in several ways. The chambray shirt is generally lighter than denim and often made of cotton or linen. It is the ideal fabric for your summer outings since the fibres of the chambray shirt are natural and allow air to circulate more freely. The chambray shirt is also very soft to the touch and offers a subtle reflection thanks to the finishing process it benefits from.

The different looks possible with a chambray shirt

Depending on the season, the chambray shirt is also very useful to refine its look: in autumn, under a curved wool sweater, accompanied by a chino and boots. To stay elegant in winter, put on a leather aviator style jacket over your chambray shirt and sweater, accompanied by raw jeans and leather boots.

Also bring your favorite chambray shirt for the wild look of a holiday! Whether on the beach, open over a white T-shirt and shorts, or for walks, with cargo pants and sunglasses, the Chambray shirt will go with you everywhere.

For a workwear style outfit, a button-down chambray shirt up to the top will offer a very avant-garde look if you combine it with flared jeans and varnished derbies or with a bomber, raw jeans and a tie with a mottled effect.

Finally, for the most daring, a chambray shirt can go with a business look. You can combine it with a suit or to bring the casual chic effect to the office with a blazer, a dark tie, velvet pants or a chino.
