Poplin is a soft, light weave, but without being transparent. The quality of the fabric is based inter alia on a careful selection of the cotton fibres used and its double twisted weave, ensuring more durability than a single twist. All these techniques together allow us to offer a shirt that is flexible, silky and strong.
Poplin is a type of weave known for making elegant and comfortable shirts and it suits all occasions. It is a must. Its white colour will go well with different suits and ties.
Our shirts are cut from the most reputable European fabrics. The collections are designed in Paris and the templates are made in Bressuire, in Deux-Sèvres, in one of the French regions most famous for textile know-how.
The entire garment is measured carefully and precisely, and made entirely in the Mediterranean Basin, in the workshop of a French master shirtmaker who has been making shirts for decades. His exceptional know-how, combined with excellent quality control, sets the standard for the big names in fashion, and lets us offer you a shirt of impeccable quality.
The Tailored cut is slightly less tight fitting than the slim cut. It offers a very nice and elegant look that's perfectly suitable for people of a standard size, with more or less broad shoulders. It hugs the contours of your chest and gives you a slender appearance, provided you choose the right size. Close-fitting, but not too tight across your chest, this shirt always offers great ease of movement.
For maximum comfort, our NINES shirts are made long enough for you to tuck them easily in your pants, avoiding the risk that they will escape and hang out as soon as you sit down. For more details on the different types of cut, consult our size guide.
The Japanese collar is the height of fashion for collars currently in Japan. Its style is similar to the mini collar but it is distinguished by the height of the collar stand. Indeed, the Japanese collar stand is slightly higher than that of the mini collar.
At the forefront of modernity, this collar is worn with a rather narrow tie, a bow tie or without a tie. Discreet and elegant, it will go well with your outfit whether it be formal or more casual.
Its low collar stand height is perfect for long or oval faces and for persons who have an elongated neck.
Always looking for the highest quality, we pay particular attention to all the details.
It is important to mention the seams of the shirt. For more elegance and solidity we have chosen to use French seams, with 6 stitches per centimeter, made in one perfect seam line. Because they are more complex to produce, they are a guarantee of quality and durability.
Our shirts are provided with stainless steel collar stays and hem gussets, pentagonal in shape. These are more refined than triangular hem gussets, since they require much more accurate cutting-out. The hem gussets help to strengthen the joint between the front and back of the shirt.
In addition, we pay close attention to the buttons. We selected Trochus shell buttons made from a shellfish that lives mainly in the waters of New Caledonia. These buttons are cross stitched for added elegance, finesse and strength. The last buttonhole is sewn horizontally to give more hold and robustness to the shirt.
The buttons are mounted on a stem, which makes them slightly raised so you can button up your shirt more easily.
The seam of the collar is positioned very accurately at a distance of 5mm, and the two folds on the outside of the cuff offer perfect elegance.
Double cuffs give a sophisticated touch to your shirt. They allow you to express yourself through different styles of cufflinks, from the most off-beat to the most conventional.
At The Nines, our main concern is to sell quality products at the right price.
On this principle, we work directly with our manufacturers, which enables us to cut out the logistics costs associated with middlemen, in contrast to traditional brands. Similarly, by reducing marketing costs as well as the profit margin we make on the tie or shirt, we are able to produce a high quality tie at a reasonable price.
It is important to sort your laundry so as to retain the bright colour of your shirts. If you don't, the color of the other clothes may get on your shirts. It is imperative to wash your shirts at no more than 30 degrees, having first removed the collar stays.
You should also dry your shirts on a hanger: to avoid breaking the fibres of the shirt, do not put them in the clothes-dryer. Finally, you must be very careful when you iron your shirt to avoid burning fibres. Use a press clothes to make it easier.
